what do you guys think?
A definite improvement over the previous years. I'm especially glad they got rid of the previous slanted headlight look, but they've really updated the entire truck overall.
gmc never had the "slanted" headlamps.
They're AWSOME rigs. Inside and out.
I'd recommend a 2500HD, tho... You can still get a gas version, but they *all* get the 6spd auto.
With the 1500, it's just a 4spd.
im thinking about trading in my '04 1500 in for one. I think they are great trucks.
The HD is the way to go, the 6 speed auto is a far better trans from what I've read, 4 speeds are entering the age of the dinosaur hopefully.
that's what I am feeling. Even though driving the new truck feels very solid and much improved from the previous years, that tranny takes a huge downshift when you floor it. I am surprised they didn't update to a 5 speed at least so it could keep up w/ the Titan not even to mention the 6 speed Tundra. I agree on the HD though (6sp ftw, but I have not driven that one yet). I may just have to go for a test drive sometime here soon.
they *did* upgrade to a six speed. However GM makes so many vehicles they can't just give all of them the new tranny. With nissan, it was an all-new truck with less than 100k made that year... And Toyota does even come close to GM production capacity so it's easier for them to change everything. Production has to catch up to do so (thats why they still have the 2007 "classic" trucks, as well... Just like Ford did the "herritage" for 1 year)
The Denali and HD trucks are getting the 6spds. the 1500 WT/SLE/SLT trucks will follow suite within the next few years as they wind-down 4L60E production and ramp-up 6L90.
For now, get the HD to get the 6spd until the half-tons are given the new tranny.
1500 I like the silverado better
HD, sierra all the way.
I'm buying a silverado next year, letting someone else take the initial hit FTW
Improvement, but just catching up to what others have been doing for a while
yea they must be catching up How long has Ford had the 6spd auto?
They haven't you say????
Are we talking about the GMC F150
You act like this truck is ground breaking well in a fact its actually a decent truck, but nothing new.. GM Is late to the party again
if GM is the one late to the party, where is ford's 6spd? Not available you say? Interesting.
Arent the HD availble in march or april?
Is allison still going to be making the tranny's
What on the GMC truck is soo new and earth shattering that makes it this truck that all you GM sackriders all over the windsheild?
NOTHING.. the interior has improved, style has improved sure, but it was soo sucky before that these improvements are just what everyone else has been doing.
You are comparing a newly redesigned truck to a nearly 4yo design that is about to be updated..
Funny on how all you can say is with the tranny.. dont know whats coming for 08 yet
but it's *not* what everyone else has been doing. Some of it is similar. Some of it is bigger versions of what's been done. Other aspects are brand-spanking-new. The 6spd tranny is one of those exciting features. the 6.2L is another. Damn that's gonna be a fun truck.
And you're butthurt that the GMC is killing the Ford in every category. Your truck is old, get over it.
I assume you're refering to Ford when you mention the 2008 models.... That's exactly my point, actually. Ford is behind. We *dont* know what's in store for '08... But they are now behind and Ford will need something to fix that. You've just admitted my point.
GM is just catching up to the party (its all been done).. Ford will still be the best seller in the US and GM will steal more ideas next year.
What point.. Ford is doing a natural update cycle (not making changes just because so and so updated their truck).. and GM is just finally in the pack now
Its just soo funny that you are soo excited not to sackride something that is soo behind the times and sucks so bad its Funny

2005 you ask
FORD'S F-SERIES SETS INDUSTRY TRUCK SALES RECORDS; AMERICA'S BEST-SELLING VEHICLE 23 YEARS IN A ROW
good job on only counting one of GM's trucks
Last time I checked F-150 is one truck.. and Silverado and Sierra are 2. I would hope 2 differnet models might outsell 1, GM sells more trucks, prolly becuase they make several different models and combined sure they might outsell the single F-150
I could of seen this typical butt hurt response coming from a mile away
What coming next you ask:
BUT SILVERADO AND SIERRA ARE THE SAME TRUCK...
NOT! they are made by same parent company but are 2 differnet name brand models, and sales prove.. as they will in 07.. F-150 is NUMERO UNO!
Thanks for the laugh.. GM has finally caught up to the pack.. just a few years late
troll trolll troll your boat...
Truth and your Butthole hurts
my butthole is rain fresh from that nice shower I just emerged from.
You, on the other hand, sound quite butthurt that the GMC is so awsome compared to your Ford
yeah they are so awesome finally realizing how to make a truck after everyone has has been making good ones for years
yes HD's are gonna be available soon. For most truck buyers, they can wait a few months to get the better truck, imo.
Allison will still make the trannys for the diesels. The gas trucks will use GM trannys:
4L60E for the 1500 WT/SLE/SLT
6L90 for the 2500's and Denali
