I just had brand new 06 sorrento as a rental while my truck was in the bodyshop.. First the good stuff, I was suprised by the power it had, handled pretty nicely, now the bad stuff the gas milage was absolutely horrible my Explorer gets better fucking milage, it snowed one wasnt impressed with it in 4x4 mode, and this could of just been a fluke with the one i had don't know if its a common problem with them but it seemed like there was a short somewhere sometimes the keyless entry, radio, clock, rear wiper wouldnt work but would usually come back on there own after driving for awhile.

    I'd take a Tahoe/Yukon over a Sorento any day.

Actually Kia is getting better, they still rank near the bottom of every quality survey I have seen. Down near VW.
I would look at a Hyundai too, they have gotten a lot better with quality.

I'de take any GM or FORD SUV over the sorrento except for maybe the escape.
I know a couple people with the cars that they use as daily drivers the cars seem ok, but they haven't worked the kinks out of the SUV's yet I think.

    I own one.

Mileage will have you easing up on that gas pedal. Overall, its a nice little truck. Make sure you get ABS, as it isn't standard.

I've put about 3300 on mine with no problems to date. One thing you may notice is that the transmission may seem like its "hesitating" to shift, especially on the 1-2 shift, however this is normal. Takes me about $40 to fill it up from E, running on 87.

Takes a little longer for the engine to warm up on a cold start than my previous vehicle, a 01 Mitsu Eclipse, but no biggie.

It doesn't like anything over 95mph, and it is very easy to get it to spin out on slick surfaces. Drive carefully in the turns.

i think an element/crv or rav4 would be a better choice.

I checked one out last summer. DIdn't drive it but sat in it, Kia definitely has come a long way as far as the feel of the vehicle. The cars are still meh in my opinion but the Sorento would definitely on my list of considerations if it performed nicely.
