anyone Yamaha sackriders feel cheated for 2005?

seems all they did was stick the old R1 front end onto last year's R6 then upped the price by a few hundred bucks.

i was kinda hoping they'd do something radically different, especially with what they did to the R1, Suzuki did with the 04 GSX-R600, and what Kawi has in the works for their 2005 ZX-6R.

i'm sorry that Yamaha seems to have cheated you guys this year. :hs:

adding upside down forks is not being cheated, that's a definite plus.

finally yamaha decided to catch up with everyone else and add the correct tire size to the front as well ... going to make the R6 much more stable

i'm aware of that. i was looking for a chassis redesign and weight reduction to really separate it from the crowd. it used to be a quite dominating bike until 2 years ago when everyone else leapfrogged them... i was hoping to see Yamaha leapfrog the others this year.

    and they did not.

Didnt they just redesign the r6 in 03? The gixxer was redesigned in 04 bc that was it's first major redesign since when, 01? The 600rr was a noob in 03, and hasnt seen a major overhaul going into 05, and the 6rr and 6r are getting a major upgrade since what, 01-02? Seems normal that yamaha wouldnt do a radical upgrade on the r6 until 06-07.

inverted forks, radially mounted brakes, 3 more hp, redesigned frame & rear suspension linkage, 70 series front tire... we'll see how it all adds up I guess :)

the r6 looks the same on the outside..but internally its been boosted up a bit with suspensions and brake upgrades as well...if you look at the 05 600rr..its the same thing with usd and radial mt brakes added

    @ "600rr was a noob in 03"

    anyway, exactly..

i have an 04, and sure, i wish i had gotten the upgrades of the 05, but since it's not a complete overhaul, no, i don't really feel cheated.

this guy trying to sell me a gixxer was obviously gassing me saying how all the 04 r6 owners are going to be pissed because the 05 is going to be "completely" different with undertail exhaust, and so on...

happy and content with my 04

it's funny, cuz the FZ series is loosely based on their YZF counterparts... the FZ6 got overhauled, yet the R6 didnt.

a lot of anticipation seems to have gotten squashed, at least from the crowd of R6 clones i know.

well, you'd still have dual undertail, as opposed to 1 on the r6...

however i hope they don't put an undertail on the r6 for other reasons..

they have a 4 year development cycle, current R6 has been relatively unchanged since the 2k model (added FI for 03). 2005 was anticipated to be the year.
