Look around online.. Jeep SUV's have some of the lowest residual rates in the business.
Chebby is a Chebby.. ever think WHY they have to discount them to even sell them.

Go for the Chev. Friend has a Liberty and gets 15MPG. Has also had several "issues"

My 4WD V8 pickup gets the same MPG...

:werd: I wouldn't consider either of those, I don't care how much of a discount they offered

I read it in various places. I think a lot of it was MSN auto stories and stuff. Honda has the highest residual value of any car maker right now. Domestics are lagging behind in quality/resale

very hard to believe. I have and LS1 and I get about the same mpg. Vortec V8 and an LS1 doesn't get the same mpg.

Generally the more popular the vehicle, the worse the resale is after a few years because there are so many on the roads. Imports are expensive because they're expensive to start with and there aren't as many, so supply and demand dictates a smaller supply causes higher prices in the resale market. I also don't put much faith in the "resale value" of a vehicle that has only been around for a year or two, like the GMC Canyon, Ford Freestyle or Mercury Monterey.

I'd go with the Equinox, the Liberty feels cramped.

How so? My friends 2000 Z28 with 6-Speed gets easily over 20MPG

I average right around 15MPG with mixed city/Hwy driving. For you to be at 15 you must be heavily modded or have an awfully heavy foot or do all stop and go driving?

That is odd, the sell over 250k Honda Accords a year, start in the teens and still hold a very high residual.
You cant honestly think there isnt a large supply of imports in this country?

Its the quality of a vehicle, the design and appeal that drive residual and resale.

No, design and appeal drive new sales. Quality and value drive resale.

Quality and Value is what most domestics lack.. hence no resale. Has little to do with there being a lot of one model on the road.

Yeah Infiniti G35 is only 27k.. about price of a fully loaded Equinox... come on.. its no excuse. its not just expensive cars.
These are just the leaders.. but the point was to show you that domestics need to get it together.. and until they do.. there are much better rides for the money.

a G35 is a car not an SUV. compare an SUV made by infinity to an Equinox, which one is cheaper?

And you know what I just thought of? I've never, ever bought a vehicle concerned about what it's going to sell for. If I like a vehicle, I'll get it, I really don't care what it'll go for because it comes to a point where everything costs about the same anyway when you sell it.

FX35 is still low 30's... you must be really poor and should get a kia if a 30k car is beyond your wildest dreams of affording it :mamoru:

FX35 and Equinox not that far apart in price, but light years apart in build quality, materials and retail.

Buy a domestic, if you like getting a poor build quality car and ignore others that are around same price that are better quality.
