What a pain in the ass. Water etching all over the rear of the car and the rear deck lid was swirled to shit with only 5,000 miles on it. I didn’t want to over compound so I left a few imperfections in the paint. After today, I have a real love hate relationship with the rotary and Menz Power Gloss.

    Process:
    Wash, clay typical shit.

    Compounding / Polishing:
    • Rotary at 1700rpm Yellow LC VC pad with Menz Power Gloss (I hate PG it cakes up so easy.)
    • Rotary at 1300rpm White LC VC pad with Menz Int Polish.
    • PC speed 6 Menz Orange LC VC pad FPII (have no idea if this did any good on the surface imperfections other than bringing out the shine.)
    Finishing:
    • JWs Prime Strong with the PC speed 5 and White LC VC pad.
    • Z2 x3 with Z8 in-between layers and then topped with Z8.
    • Tired dressed with Armor All Extreme Shine Gel.
    • Wheel wells dressed with original Armor All.
Now when I detail I dont expect tips, but this guy pissed me off. Not only did I provide hell of a detail (I’m a shitty photographer so the pics might not show it) but I did the following for him:
    1. Ordered supplies for the guy from 3 different online vendors.
    2. Washed all the MF's from PakShak I got for him so he could use them right away.
    3. Made a power point presentation for him documenting the entire process including pics.
    4. Wrote up a "how to" on how to wash, dry and maintain the car with his new supplies.
A simple $5 tip or even a thanks for going the extra mile would have made me happy. Cheap fucker.

Here are some pics if you are interested of the finished detail:

Oh and geez this guy I do not think ever cleaned his wheels.

    Before:
    Notice the inner wheel

    After:

Took me about 20-25 mins per wheel with Megs wheel brightener on the inside.

I love the C6 so much, you did a good job on it too. It's such a shame to see cars like that being owned by people like that. You'd think they could at least run it through a car wash every now and then.

Megs WB and an old sheep skin mit. I also used a tooth brush. The guys says with a stunned look on his face, "Wow, you got the insides clean, I thought I would have to jack the car up and take them all off."

    Duche.

Well he just inherited it from his passed on father. He is a new to it and taking care of a car. He took about 20 of my business cards and said he was going to hand them out at his Corvette Club a week from Friday, who knows.

Hard part for me is I take a long time to do cars. It tok me prolly 10 hours to do that car and someone like Scott could have prolly done it in 5. I dont like to be rushed and I sweat every last friggin detail.

I know I would too. I want to try and get all the products I need to do this to my own car soon so I can try on my not so fantastic paint before doing it on my new paint. I've never done anything more to my car than a wax since I bought it almost 2 years ago. It'll probably take me all day to do it since I'll want it to be perfect, and then it'll be filthy again the next day.

This shows how bad I am about my Maxima. When spring its I take a week, thats right a full week about 5 hours each day working on it. Everything from sun roof to undercariage is done. It goes up on blocks tires pulled everything.

Another thing that you can do is go to a body shop and get a junk pannel and use that as practice. Im going to get one his weekend to keep working my rotary skillz

Took me a nearly three hours just to polish out '74 Vette convertible today. That didn't include washing, the second polishing step, waxing, light interior cleaning, etc. Not much you can do to speed it up when the car needs heavy compounding.

    Shitty cell phone pic:

Looks like the 'Vette turned out really good, even though (since you seem to mention it with my pics) the first few pics have the background way overexposed. :mamoru:

Yeah, some customers are cheap, just comes with the territory I guess.

:werd: but honestly, I think too it comes down to how well organized you are during a detail. I usually do complete details on average vehicles in 3-4 hours of actual working time, but it actually takes me 5-6 due to equipment set-up, finding the product I need to use, etc.

I just need to take the time to organize my set-up and figure out ways to reduce the set-up time I have for my equipment. :hsd:

Nightwalker, sucks to hear about the customer; some people just irk me with the way they treat others -- especially those performing a highly specialized service for them. :madfawk:

That's why you charge enough so your happy with the $$$ without a tip. Treat what you do as a business. If your work is good people will gladly pay a higher price. You will usually handle cleaner cars to begin with and trust me; someone who understands the value of paying 2x more than other people will appreciate your work.

Sucks when you have a black car on concrete, even hard with digitals.

    And?

BTW, not sure if you can relate because Megan probably was never that big, but I have a friend whose wife lost about 90 pounds and looks pretty decent with her clothes on. Anyway, one night he is doing her doggy style, and had his hands on her hips, moving her back and forth...until he looked down and realized the only thing moving was her loose skin. :noes:

Megan lost 90 pounds as well but she was evenly proportioned so the only spot she has a little skin is under the arms and around the tummy but it is very very little. Only bad thing is that she lost her boobies from a B cup to a small A now. She is getting a boob job either in September or next summer before the wedding.

Shitty pic and she lost about another 10 pounds since.

Aight we are leaving for the lake home for the weekend. See you bitches Tuesday.
