Definitely this has been the year of the remakes. We've seen remakes like Walking Tall, The Stepford Wives,Man on Fire, Dawn of the Dead,Alfie, Cheaper by the Dozen, Flight of the Phoenix and remakes from foreign films like Taxi, The Grudge and Shall we dance. And next year more remakes like The Longest Yard, The Pink Panther, Assault on Precinct 13 and The Amityville Horror. Has Hollywood lost the idea of originality or who the heck cares, at least everybody will pay to see it.:wiggle:

They're remaking the HK movie Infernal Affairs. They changed the title and Martin Scorcese is directing it. It's one of my favorite movies so I hope they don't screw it up...the fact Scorcese is directing it gives me a little hope.

Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio are signed on to play the two lead characters.

I'm sorry, but this cancels out any good that Scorcese might bring to the project.

what has dicaprio ever been bad in? basketball diaries, great performance, whats eating gilbert grape, outstanding performance, romeo and juliet was terrific, catch me if you can was fantastic, the man in the iron mask was maybe his worst performance but playing 2 characters is a tough thing to do and it wasnt half bad. I just dont understand how having a top actor could do any harm.

I agree...too many people view him as a "teeny bopper" actor who has no serious roles. He's a very good actor if you can look past his boyishly good-looks...:o I mean, his faggot-like image...

I've also heard that a remake of Hideo Nataka's Dark Water is also getting americanized like Ju-On. I wonder if there might be an americanized version of Battle Royale.

Leo and Damon are both very respectable actors. I agree that a remake should have never been made, but I'm still looking forward to it.

Yea, Dark Water is being remade. I hear it's low-budget though...if I remember correctly.

I haven't seen the original of Walking Tall but I really liked this years version, çept for the last half hour or so, that was very Hollywood-esc. I just liked The Rock's [I wish he'd change his friggin' name] kick ass attitude, and Johnny Knoxville was more than tolerable. Though I must admit, Welcome to the Jungle shits all over this film. It uses it as toliet paper even.
