I'm in the market for a new car within the next 6-12 months. Does anyone have any experience/opinions on this car? I know there is a ton of aftermarket support for this car (APR), so I'm wondering if I should look at the A4 or wait maybe another 2 years and go for the S4. Thanks for your thoughts.

I'd wait and get the S4 personally, but the A4 is truly a nice car. Built solid, fantastic interior but stock it is way underpowered.

Go for an older (B5) S4. Great looking car, the lines will still please the eye for decades. Solid, fast, delicious. Mmmm..

But the 2.7T is a very unreliable engine. Modded it's powerful as all get-out, but I'd be worried about its quality...there's a reason Audi discontinued that engine.

The new S4 is a beast. I might be looking at used B6 S4's when I get back to the states.

Also, if you're looking at the new A4 1.8T...check out the Subaru Legacy 2.5GT. Lots of power, AWD, and FANTASTIC quality. I'll be looking at those when I come home, too. :coold:

yeah, 1.8's are dogs. they're really nice cars but if you're looking for even a decently quick car, i would certainly pass on the 1.8t. you could always chip it, but even then, they're not terribly fast.

It's actually not as bad as people think, just the typical Volkswagen AG problems: coilpacks, throttle boot gunking up. The turbos should hold up just fine if the previous owner didn't mash the gas pedal every time he left a stop light.

Nope, pretty good power. Not exceptional, but with the six speed plenty quick ... around 7 sec plus or minus. In the next year or two the new 3.2 255HP introduced in the new A6 will find its way into the A4, but then the A4 will have the new corporate nose which looks .... um .... unique.
