Strange thing happened during my visit to the local Honda dealership. Actually, it's a fantastic Honda/VW/Mercedes dealer. The place is very well done. Fancy inside, super nice people, valet parking for all cars that need service, and a cappuccino machine. In any case... I went in to schedule for an appointment. My Civic is leaking oil, and it only has 14,000~ miles on the odometer. While I was looking around, I came upon this very loud looking GTI. It stood out in the VW show room. It was a color I hate - yellow. Although, it did look good in that color. Also, the car had very nice looking wheels. Almost had an aftermarket look to them.. I open up the door, and the interior looks as though it belongs in a car that costs $50,000. The MSRP of this particular car was $23,000. Seriously now, this interior was perfect. I'm not just taking about the fit and finish (believe me, it's ultra high-grade), but more of the style. They interior styling is absolutely and positively amazing. The clutch was light as a feather (both good and bad), and the shifter (6-speed) clicked into each gear. The seats were great, and the door closed with a reassuring thunk. Something I never heard from an American or Japanese car. So, I went on the internet and it looks like a completely different car on-line. Could this be an 04 model that I was looking at? I'm pretty sure it was 03. All the pictures that I've seen on the internet make this car look like an ugly shitbox. In any case, I can see why people love those type of cars.
