I am most likely going to be picking one up this week, i found a clean one in Lincoln, Nebraska.

anybody know anything i should know before buying one.. i am wondering if there are any problems with teh SH tranny vs. a regular one.

Great looking car but you can get a lot of quicker cars for the price.

It's really up to you. Personally, I'd take a nice ride with ok performance...like the prelude SH. IF I were after great performance though, I could probably get an older Cobra for the same amount of money.

    Good commuter car.

Should last a lot of miles while your driving back and forth to class.

thats the idea.. its a very good looking car.. but still has some nuts on it.

I am not really looking for all out speed, that will just get me into trouble, and plus i want good fuel economy..

i am done with school, and work isn't that far from my house, so thats not a big issue.

I looked at mustangs and so forth, i don't want RWD with the winters in nebraska..

I really like everything about the lude.. its moderatly quick, looks good when lowered..

the only thing i am unsure of, is the tranny.. like if that will break down the road..

Manual Tranny is rock solid. The automatic is supposed to have the same problems accord autos have.

They are awesome cars, a little pricey, with a good combination of economy and quickness. Its a nice car, although most people on here only care about having the fastest car ever

I don't think your going to go wrong with this car. I'm pretty sure it was on Car and Drivers Top 10 list every year the 5th gen was produced. Im also sure that it won the best handling car under 30k crown too. I love them, congrats...

oh yeah, make sure you get a 5-speed, I've driven the auto and it takes the life out of the car imo

I used to race my Prelude at VIR (closed road course) on a stock clutch every weekend. When I sold the car (with 80k on the odo) the tranny seemed as good as new. I have heard the syncros on some 5 speeds are a pain in the ass.

For the money, I would opt for a base model and change up the suspension on it.

    well, i really don't care..

they want 18,900 for it.. i have a trade, and should be able to work them down a few thousand i'd think..

it only has 18,254 miles on it.. so i am kinda thinking that + clean paint.. and general honda reliablility shouldn't be an issue.

Has anyone driven an SH? any real differences?

SH is good but only if you don't want to mod it much.

I have one. The SH is good for me cuz I don't mod, but I can still outrun most cars around the sweeping turns, off ramps, etc. A lot of fun, but not very fast, but it is faster than most cars that you see. Great handling, awesome looks, and gets decent gas mileage. The ride is somewhat harsh, but no where near punishing. I'm planning on doing minor suspension stuff to mine, and thats it. Get the car, you'll love it.

i won't do anything that can't be reversed in a few hours..

i ain't one of those jack balls that buys a car and paints the interior and shit.. screw that.. i am an adult..

i will be doing minor suspension, stereo, wheels, and I/H/E, thats about all.

    i got a 97 SH

you dont want to heavily mod it cuz the atts can't handle that much torque... you can disable it, but it just be sitting weight

it handles like a dream however and you can really feel it around the twisties

    economy, reliablity is top notch

I had a base '97 for about 3 years. Great car, the auto tranny was a POS, but you won't have to worry about that in the SH. GREAT handling car with some small suspension mods. Pretty reliable, I had a few problems with my moonroof. Not that quick, but if you don't care then it's a great car.
