My grandpa gave me 2 guns the other day. I finally got a chance to shoot them

I did OK at 100yds with the lever action, which is a Marlin 336A chambered in .35 Remington. I got 3 out of 7 in the black about 4-5in diameter target. And this is my first real time shooting iron sights minus some handgun and BB gun shooting. So I feel good about it

The other one is a Stevens Model 56 without a mag. The breech is sligtly squared which makes it hard to load, but it will load, though im not sure if it will fire or not. The Bore is very nice now that its clean

it was a blast to shoot, but I barely shot any. I need a lot of work with teh iron sights, especailly at 100yds. I was just happy to hit the black. Ill probably use it at the 40yd tin can range just for fun:naughty:.

does anyone know a good place becides Gunbroker.com to get old gun mags.

ps. one of these days we need a Nor-cal gun meet at the Chabot range.

:werd: I wonder how much it would be to rent the range. I'll find out next time I'm there.

It wasn't that bad the times I've been there, but I thought it'd be fun to have a whole range for the meet. But, we'll see.

I'd like to have a .35 Rem, especially a 336D (same thing as the 1895 Guide Gun, they only made 1000).

I know what you mean about iron sights too, I found an old lyman 48 aperture sight for my model 70 and mounted it before deer season, I could only keep it about 2.5" groups with it at 100yds, I really need more practice. Using irons makes you appreciate scopes alot more :o

Nice looking. I really need to get family that have old guns, so that I can then inherit them.
