My 2.5 mobile hd got a bad sector, so I am wondering if theres any way to retrive a data via usb?
Had a similar problem last week with a users hard drive. Found a device very similar to this http://www.usbgear.com/productdetails_new.cfm?sku=USBFF-25KIT&cats=315 at a local computer store and figured I would give it a try. . . it worked great! It will mount it as another hard drive on a desktop or laptop and you can copy the data over. However, if some/all of the files are on the bad sectors you may not be able to copy that over.
My g/f's laptop psu fried so I had to get the data off. I just bought a USB2.0 external enclosure for 17AUD and it work great.
CompUSA sells an adapter for $6 that allows you to hook up a 2.5" HD to a PC IDE cable.
I bought one of those also, but find the USB enclosure quicker to deal with.
