my friend just picked this chip up last week for $128
Cool, but damn you're missing out on some bus madness
yeah, that's not very impressive. You got a good total speed by sacrificing FSB? On an archetecture that can only shine with the FSB to feed it? Please. You need to UP the FSB, not go down.
didnt go down...it's a 2.4A, 533fsb by default...
But your graphic says 196?
And full load?
stock is 166MHz. But 196MHz is still not high enough. You're much better off with 220 and a lower overall than 196 and this. See what you can get on the FSB; afterall, the P4 arch is bus-hungry.
P4 FSB's are quad pumped, it's 196x4=784mhz...
P4 A's and B's are 166x4 by default, C's are 200x4, and there's also a 266x4 (1066mhz) version out now as well...but i dont recall the designation right now.
how? the multiplier is locked??? am i missing something?
220x18 would be 3.9something GHz
and no, you couldn't use the same multi with 220. And 220 was just an example. you may get more/less.
GHz isn't everything. What does it get for superpi?
it does 43s like that...
its crippled by PC2700 memory also btw..
its an Abit board...not sure on the model number but it has every overclocking option i've ever seen in a bios..
