    with two batteries. body-only, obviously.

    is that a good price?

how is the IQ going to compare against the 5DmkII?

i really like the 8fps. i tend to take my camera to the golf course every time i go.

You mean 1Dmklln. That's a good price, depending on how many shutter clicks. I love mine.

a friend of mine has one, he loves it, I'm thinking he payed around that same price, used with about 40k clicks.

i already emailed them to see how many actuations are on it.

    1d ... not 1ds. you're right.

any idea on the image quality between this and the 5dmkII? sure would be nice to spend $1000 less. :o

IQ on the 5DmkII will be better. However, unless you really need to make really large prints or shoot in real low light, the 1DmkIIn will be fine. I use mine as a backup to my 5D and don't use it in low light situations, but when you need 8fps, the camera is fantastic. Here's a pic I shot with it in pretty low ambient light at iso 800. You can see the noise in the background.

    and here's a pic at iso 400

My canon buddy has one. 8fps is great and he uses it for sports a lot, but its not a good high ISO performer. He barely takes it above 800 iso when he does weddings.

    what's the 40D do, like 6.5fps? it's not bad.

we'll see, i might just save some coin for the 5d2

you use your 1D as a backup to your 5D? isn't that usually the opposite?

I think the 5D produces better images, especially at higher ISO's. But if I was going to shoot in wet, nasty environment, the 1D would get the nod.

    Some differences in the two.

The 5D is 12.8 megapixals and full frame. The 1D is 8.2 megapixals and 1.3 crop. The 1D is constructed better than the 5D and has weather sealing. The 5D has much better high ISO. The 1D has better focusing. The 5D can shoot 3fps the 1D shoots 8fps.

That's just an excuse to tell yourself to buy it. Don't sell yourself short, wait and get a 5D2. You won't regret it in the long run!

when I have something big show up, I usually tell myself "I'll have a long time to play w/ it, why am I so anxious?"

usually doesn't work. Can't wait to see pics. :big grin:
