b20b block, b16 head, cp 9:1 pistons, eagle rods, skunk2 intake, t3/62-1 turbo, custom "ramhorn" exhaust manifold, 3" downpipe, 2.5" aluminum charge pipes, custom fmic, tial 50mm bov, tial 44mm wastegate, rc 1000cc injectors, walbro 255 pump, neptune RTP ecu, tuned on e85

The car made ~400whp @ 17 lbs...ran a 12.3 @ 122 mph first time out on radials...it has a lot more in it but since i drive it everyday i haven't leaned on it yet. Paying $2.14 a gallon for E85 is pretty nice. :big grin:

    this.

Im' really not a fan of wrong wheel drive cars, but I have to respect the work put into that, and the fact that the exterior wasn't completely riced out.

Not bad. Your engine bay is pretty damn clean. Is the block stock sleeves?

It's stock sleeves for now but that's gonna change in the near future. E85 is a wonderful thing.

Figured i'd post some pics of what the car looked like when i bought it 3 years ago. I picked up for $1300, the car was completely unmodified except for an alarm and sound system that was installed some time in the early 90's.

A "little" faster than stock? :noes: so modest. You probably knocked off 4-5 seconds from stock ETs.

Thanks for all the kind words.

I overheated the built 2 liter and cracked a sleeve so i just put a bone stock jdm GSR bottom end in the car and put it on the dyno again. This time around it made 433whp. It was starting to lean out a little bit up top so i need to make a few more changes before i go any further. Not bad for a bone stock 1.8 liter long block, actually made more peak power than my built motor but about 40 hp less in the midrange. Although we were having ignition breakup with the old setup and never got to make a full pass at this boost level. Still has more in it for sure.

    new dyno

I'm hoping to knock off about 6 once i get some slicks....figure it was a high 15 low 16 second car stock so it shouldn't be a problem.

The modesty comes from having friends with pretty serious cars so mine is really not all that compared to theirs, i'm having fun with it though and it catches a lot of people off guard on the street. :eek3:

433whp on a 1.8 long block? jeebus fucking christ. I wish L series engines had the aftermarket to do that whp/L figure. I could make 700 easy then...

Yessir, the motor is completely stock. I wouldn't even be trying to make this kind of power if i wasn't on E85.

It's closer to 11:1 right now, my old setup was 9:1 because i planned to run it on 93.

Still man, AFAIK, the current record in the US for a L series is 650whp on E85....and he's got so much money sunk into that motor that it isn't even funny. IIRC, he poured....8 or 9k I want to say into the block, another 7k into the heads, two grand on a one off turbo...stupid amounts of money.

Times like this I wish I had become a honda gearhead instead of a Z gearhead :/

    Some updates...

I repainted the bay, relocated all the brake lines and freshened up everything.

The sleeved block i bought for the car had a broken oil pump. Since i had an event to run Feb 20th, i put together a piston/rod 81x89mm block. Picked up a set of used Wiseco 9:1 pistons for $150, used my old Eagle rods and threw them in a junkyard $150 b18b1 bottom end. Also added a set of Blox tuner 2 cams, oil catch can with vents in the valve cover and block and switched back to 93 octane. The car made 436whp at 16 psi which is about the same power as before but with less boost. The cams REALLY helped a lot, i need to put together a dynograph comparing the two.

The turbo is starting to burn oil so im going to be replacing it soon, don't know what im going to get just yet but it'll probably be the precision billet 6262. Also probably gonna take my sleeved block, get it line honed/decked/hot tanked/bored to 85mm and throw a set of 11.1 CP pistons in it.
