So there is a ZX10R for sale locally... It'll be my first bike, thoughts, warnings, etc?

    Here is the ad:
Sidenote: I'm not worried about the alternator, if I can't do it, my brother works on bikes all the time so it won't be a problem to get that done...

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

you can probably get a newer, quicker, lighter bike.

As much as it sounds like a fun toy, I'd pass.

Yea and its a heavy pig. The older 1000s are nothing like the newer ones, I'm sure I dont have to tell you that. But I think you have the right idea looking for used bikes though. But I'd get a newer 600 with fuel injection if I were you. Honda F4i's seem to be a good choice for noobs. Most new 600s, 636, R6's and 600RR are a lil to aggressive I think for beginners but they still by them for the "image". Good luck

Yeah, what's the deal? Why do you need such a large displacement bike for your first one? Why not ease into it. Even a sporty 600 can get you into a lot of trouble.
