its lighter than hell, has really tall gearing, and a small motor. Hell, even my b16 gets about 40-45 highway

oh, and my 90 SI got amazing mileage on highway trips. I used to drive it between Chicago and my parents place in Wisconsin, about 110 miles, all highway and If I didn't hit any traffic, I'd use less than 2 gallons of gas. Around town it was more like 30.

i wouldnt call it "today" it was in 89 and if u find that car its probaly going to get more like 40mpg they are carbed and the hardest carb to adjust.
my 95 civic CX hatch with all of 70hp sohc 1.5 liter got 37mpg driving around by my house (not over 55mph).

Weight isn't really a factor in highway mpg. This is demostrated by only a negligible difference between driving alone vs having 3 passengers. The '89 CRX HF has a higher rated highway mpg than a Toyota Prius.

the 88-91 hfs arent carbed. they have dpfi, dual point fuel injection.
