    Dumb or not?

So I have ALWAYS loved the 65-69 4 door Lincoln Continental sedan. Black on black with white walls. Well I was driving around a few days ago and spoted it. A 67 black Lincoln, 120k miles, black interior. For Sale.

I called the guy and he said he wants 1500 for it and I know I can work this guy to accept 750. It's all original, it would need paint and the chrome to be redone. I figure I could strip the paint off it, and paint it flat black untill I was able to afford a full paint job.

It would basicaly be a restoration as I can afford it. The car does run so I would be driving it as it was being fixed up. If you didnt know, I am planning on selling the Mercedes, so I would pick up a daily driver and then have this car for fun.

I know its not fast, doesnt handle well, and gets bad gas milage, but I'm in LOVE with the looks!

And here is what I'm currently driving

Those are awesome cars. We had a '66 when I was a kid...many fond memories of that car, cruising across Nevada at 100+ back when there was no speed limit. I almost bought a '65 myself a few years ago. It was immaculate inside & out, looked like it just rolled off the showroom floor, 60k original miles and never been restored. But the guy wanted more than I could afford and I had just bought my '70 TA.

It's worth it for the suicide doors alone.

Pics of the actual car? I like the 66 and 67s best of all. The lights in the bumper look cooler.

Dont fucking do that, it will make you look like an ass or worse, A ricer.

if the paint is alright but could use a respray just wait until you can afford a complete paint job and THEN strip it.

I like it in flat black. :hsd:

An update is i did the oil pan gasket today and repainted the oil pan factory blue. I dont plan on a full resto right now, just to get it to a driveable state. I noticed today the steering box mounting point is cracked. I need to replace that (the box), and do a few bushings before it's safe to drive. Once it's safe to drive i'll drive it 1-2 times a week and work on it slowly.

heres the pic of the car..

    Don't flat black it.

Just get some polish and work the paint over a little bit so it looks like what it is- a solid, classic survivor.

Sweet car, and I almost threw up when I saw "$600.00".

Yea that will be removed. I hate vinyl.

and the paint isn't in good enough shape to polish up.

true. my friend bought a 70's caddy with a vynal top and he had serious rust underneith. mine sounds pretty solid, but I have to pull off the vynal to double check.

What about doing the roll on enamel paint job?? It will look a lot better than flat black and you can do it yourself. You'll also be able to keep wax on it to prtect it as you work on the rest of the car.

I guess I just love flat black. plus it will be easier to prep for the real paint job.

You could easily fit 12 dead hookers in that trunk.

Excellent find man, but please, don't paint it flat black. In my opinion, it is the worst possible thing one can do to a car.
