OK, a guy is selling a RIA 1911 tactical with two holsters (one Kydex, one leather) and two mags for $450, after shipping it'll cost me about $480 total. However, I have also found a G19 local to me for $400 (used). I want the G19 for a carry piece when my license comes in, plus the cheaper ammo. I love my 31, and fired a coworkers G19 and was just as accurate with it. However I've been wanting a 1911 for a long time, while I could carry the 1911, it'll be much more difficult to carry. I can only afford one, which one would you get? I was going to wait until the show this weekend, until I stumbled onto this 1911.

The 1911 would not be more difficult to carry. Is the 1911 used? If so for that price, it's nothing special, you can get a RIA brand new for that or less usually.

Not here man. $500+ for new in most shops I've checked, I'm gonna double check the show this weekend before I buy anything.

They do sometimes. Stupid FTE issues with mine and cheap ammo. Never had a problem with a Hydra-shok yet though. :x: I'm going to try swapping out the extractor and see if that fixes it. :dunno:

Based on all the reading I've done & postings I've read, a G19 is far more indestructible; sort of like the "deisel VW Rabbit" of pistols. A quallity 1911 in good tune, however, will probably garner a much more passionate and devoted fan base. (One man's opinion.)

Hydrashok is a crappy round for maintained mass... It's probably enough to stop someone but there are much better rounds out there now...

If shooting was sex, 1911's would be the college coed; She likes lots of little shiny things that are usually expensive. Maybe you'll get laid, maybe not. Maybe she's a good lay if she's been worked on by someone who knows their shit, or maybe not. Probably lots of issues, and you never know when she's really thinking about some other guy.

Glocks are like hookers; pay your money, fuck, go home.

Which would sounds like it gets the job done more efficiently to you?

Not el-cheapo. But a quality one, heck yeah. As previously noted, however, expect more maintenance. You'll have to make sure it's nice and clean, oil it regularly, and learn its various intricacies, but I don't mind doing that.

The Glock is just reliable and ugly. Like the aforementioned hooker.

If I may continue with that analogy, imagine you're Hugh Grant. Your 1911 is Elizabeth Hurley. The Glock is the ugly black hooker you cheated on the hot chick with. :o

Edit: I don't much care for Glocks, but I'll probably pick up two to keep on board when I get a bigger boat. I'll have them nice and hidden for defense, and not worry about them rusting. :wiggle:
