camping this weekend a bunch of us were shooting and i noticed that my ultra compact .45 was not liking to chamber the 230g hollow points that i have in it. the gun is clean. is it just the rounds? my shorter 1911? ?

how was it not feeding? where does it hang up? have you ruled out any magazines, or certain ammo?

get the first shot off.. and round jams up on the feed ramp. brand new kimber mags, and using wwb personal protection ammo.

it has to do with the angle the round comes in contact with the feed ramp. Ball ammo contacts at a different angle. You can try different hollow points with a different profile, or bring the gun to a gunsmith and have him work on the feed ramp.

Polish out the feed ramp, if that doesn't work, try different mags.

Agreed on the m1911.org site. Try changing mags or ammo. Messing with the ramp should be the last thing you do.

holy carp.. they butchered that thing.

i think my easiest cheapest solution is to just use ball ammo.
