thinking of purchasing a springfield loaded 1911 ... only problem is that i know, at some point, ill buy a nicer 1911 of the custom/semi-custom variety. at that point it seems like i wasted 700 dollars on the loaded, as it gives me nothing over the higher dollar models.. .so why not save up another 700 and spend 1400 on a much nicer piece. :hs: ... :dunno:

the other option would be to get the loaded modle, then spend the next 700 with a good gunsmith (or springfield's custom shop maybe) but going down that road, you'll still never 'have' a valtro or brown :hs:

you're right. If you buy it, it will be cool until you go and buy a wilson or baer or ed brown or something. Then it wont be as cool.

You're better off just waiting a little longer and getting teh custom jump off.

I always liked 1911's and I considered buying a cheaper one like a Springfield or Kimber... but I'mma just bite teh bullet and get a Wilson.

I'll stick with my Kimber thanks, although there is nothing wrong with the Springfields.

Since this thread is here, I won't make another one on the same subject. I am very close to purchasing a handgun and right now all signs point to a 1911. I am right now looking at a SA Loaded in stainless. I need to know if there is anything wrong with it... I would go with a kimber but they are a little more $$ and money is a big factor for me. Thanks!

SA's are hit or miss. you can get a REALLY good one, or a decent one, or a crappy one (few of these, just mostly the other two) without knowing it. my best friend has an SA loaded, and his is great, but he said prior to buying his, he had fired several that other people owned, and depending on who you asked, they were either great, or mediocre. i love his, but i like my other friend's kimber I just as much.

Would you happen to know specifically what the problems were? I don't want to spend lots of time tinkering w/ this trying to get it right if it isn't when I buy it. I guess if I am going to be taking a leap of faith in a SA, I can get a kimber but like I said, money is tight and kimbers cost more of it.

I bought a SA Mil-Spec a month ago. Keep in mind this is the base model and cost me less that $400. Took it to the range, and it's just as accurate as any of my Glocks or Berettas. Nothing wrong with SA, even at the entry level.

True, but I don't want a glock so that doens't matter heh. I have handled them and I don't like the way they feel OR the trigger pull.

Right now I don't know what to do. I was talking to my dad about it and he is also "pushing" me towards the kimber because everyone he has talked with says to go with them. The situation reminds me of when I bought a cd player for my truck, people were like "get the eclipse its just sooo much better" (but 2.5x as much as most other units), when in reality I didn't need it.

Anyone know how much a kimber stainless II goes for roughly? I know that the SA I was looking at today was like 639-659 (can't remember).

The ONLY other gun I am entertaining the thought of buying is a HK usp.
