From what I have gathered on other forums it looks like 24mm-50mm and f/8-f/11 is the "sweet spot".

For ultimate sharpness and minimal distortion what have you found to be the best?

I found the only distortion to be wide open 18mm, as soon as you zoom a little it gets very nice.

I didn't take enough pictures with it yet (only maybe 1800) to really know a sweet spot.

are all Nikon VR just as good as the 18-200? I was looking into getting the 70-300 vr.

I heard you could shoot handheld
1/2s with VR? Is this correct?

F8-F11 is the sweet spot on most if not all lenses

    I really don't think so.

handheld standing you can't really get under 1/30, maybe 1/15 if very calm. my 1/8 were done sitting using my forearm (elbow on knee) as a pod.

I sure as hell can't get that low.

I pulled off a few 1/10 in Boston a few weeks ago but I'm not consistent enough to do it every time yet.
