Pittsylvania County Deputy Sheriff accidentally shot From staff reports March 21, 2008 A veteran Pittsylvania County Deputy Sheriff was injured Thursday by a gunshot at a routine training session. Ronald Anderson, who has served the Sheriff's Office for 24 years and been a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics team for 16, shot himself in the hand during a routine training session, Sherriff Mike Taylor reported. During the weapons reloading segment of the training session, Deputy Anderson's firearm discharged, a preliminary report indicates. An on-scene SWAT medic administered immediate treatment before Anderson was transported to the Danville Regional Medical Center and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
