I haven't built one before from the ground up, however I have some knowledge of parts and the insides of the computer. (AKA: I think I can do it).

I have a list of the parts I need. Please add any parts and then possibly make a recommendation on a computer which will do gaming pretty well and also run the Adobe CS3 suite pretty well.

I need everything from OS to monitor for $1,500.

Okay...go! Thx in advance OT! :)

I see that you have a RAID card listed. How much usable capacity are you looking for?

Are you wanting to run your OS/progs off the RAID as well (everything is on the RAID) or keep some stuff separate?

yeah...I thought about it, and I don't think that I will even be doing the Raid card. I will probably just be doing a small hard drive for the OS/Programs, and then another 'storage' drive.

I was thinking like a faster 160-250gb OS/program HD, and then one other 500gb or so drive.

what are your thoughts. I would like to keep this a simple install so that's why I thought the better of going RAID. Plus, none of my crap is that important anyways to where I really care if I lose it, haha.

I'd choose Lite-On over LG and Sony over Lite-On for the optical drive.

Why not an AALS drive? Newer firmware and double the cache (firmware being the more important item).

You don't need those SATA power adapters. And I would get a Corsair PSU anyway. Probably the 520HX or 620HX.

Why not spend a little extra and get a 1GB ATI 4870HD GPU...

Don't forget the thermal grease for the CPU.... Arctic Cooling MX-2

Other than that doesn't look bad. You could keep everything the same and be happy other than the PSU. Don't skimp and get a shitty power supply when your getting such higher end components elsewhere.

dunno how much storage you need but a 1TB drive shouldn't add much to the price
monitor wise how serious is your photo editing? hobby, professional? if it is serious you might want to avoid that monitor and all other TN based panels and go for something like: LG W2600H-PF Black 25.5" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor - Retail which has a IPS panel (far better colors, viewing angles) will add 130USD tough, which is still extremely cheap for an IPS panel and well worth it imo.
