what do you guys think of this fairly new thing?
me being army, i definitely dont like it. you air force guys cant talk, with your pansy 6 month (if youre unlucky) deployments, lol.

while we're on this subject, how much longer, realistically speaking, do you think we are gonna be out there?
im in the most deployed division in the world, so i know we are going, we just dont know how many times more we will be out there...

Better than having 12 months in and getting extended, I guess.

But I guess 15 can become 18. I'm not sure.

I think policy will change by November 07. I see serious shift in war policy, to protect (republican) election races.

Basically, I think alot of republicans are going to be jumping ship in the up coming months, and will force a shift in policy.

well, as it goes now, the rumors we are hearing is that we (my battalion) will be heading out the crapbox, again, in nov 08 and then we'll get called back in about 3 months later...
what worries me is that i need to be out there for at least 1 month so i can reenlist for my tax-free lump sum bonus.
we're hearing rumors right now also though, that if a dem gets elected, military bonuses are all going to be cut... thats gonna suck ass for retention.

My unit tends to go more for quantity then length.

officially, what's the rationale behind the army working on 15 month gigs and the other services working on ~6 month gigs?

I think the Marines are going to go with the Every Marine Deploys thing. It made a big splash in the news a few weeks ago. Not sure if it's a done deal yet or not. There was a lot of talk about some Marines having never deployed in the several years they have been in, while others have deployed multiple times.

Army should do the same, IMO. Although it wouldn't be practical in every instance. Some MOS's just don't lend themselves very well to deployments.
