$15,000 to spend on a 2001 BMW M3, what upgrades do you recommend? I have a totally stock M3 and I am looking for some good performance parts. I know the basic things I want to get but I need to know which brands are the best such as Dinan,AC,AA,ect. I want to get a cat-back exhaust, test pipes, headers, injectors, intake, intake manifold, cams, fuel system, ECU, ignition, spark plugs, short shifter, racing clutch, flywheel, and anything else you might recommend.

Dinan products are good quality and they back-up their stuff like no other but honestly, coming from somone that owned a Dinan car, for the minimal power gains, they are just too pricey. But then again, there really are no reasonably priced mods for the e46 M3 that yield anything worth talking about :hs:

Check PM, but as a quick rundown...

    Suspension - H&R or Bilstein
    Brakes - Brembo or Stoptech
    Exhaust - Supersprint or Remus
Wheels & Tires - Personal Preference
    Cams - Schrick
    SSK - B&M
Maybe Underdrive pullies, Intake, and software

    I think that was all.

Suspension - Ground Control - their street only set is far better than H&R or Bilstein and competively priced, also their customer service is outstanding.
Brakes - Brembo or Stoptech - waste of money unless you are going to track
Exhaust - Supersprint or Remus - personal preference :)
Wheels & Tires - Personal Preference
    Cams - Schrick
    SSK - Rogue
Maybe Underdrive pullies, Intake, and software

Thinking the same thing here only because I am getting sick of the M3 rasp which I used to like. I'll probably go with a mid pipe before deciding to throw down for headers.

The sound is personal preference, but when we're talking about "which brands are the best" - Considering nearly all exhausts out there on the market for M3's are originally produced by Remus or Supersprint and then relabelled, i'd say those 2 are pretty good choices.

    You betcha. :big grin:

You'd be surprised how many real manufacturers are out there compared to how many companies claim they manufacture products. :eek3:

depends on what your goals are but i'd get:

$1500-$2k for suspension setup: probably ground control coilovers & camber plates

$5k for nice, light 19" rims (bbs rs-gt, hre's, champion motorsports, ssr gt3) and michelin ps2 tires

$4500 for nice 4 wheel bbk - brembo, stoptech, etc. with upgraded pads, lines, fluid, etc. (although, honestly i would skip the bling of the bbk and just get a brake cooling kit w/ some nice ducting and just get better pads, lines, fluid)

maybe $1k-1500 or so for a nice exhaust to deepen the exhaust note (get rid of some of the raspiness hopefully)

personally, i wouldn't bother with a chip, intake, or any engine mods because the gains are minimal and i wouldn't wanna do anything to jeopardize the bmw 6yr/100k miles engine warranty.

If you're talking about engine mods, I agree. But suspension mods can impove the performance greatly to an already great handling car.

I love that color combo. I couldn't find one while shopping for my current ride.

    One word.......kaboom!

  17. Pick up an RX-7 as a weekend car and start modding that. Seriously all you could add is aesthetic bullshit.

  18. BTW, if you want ACS parts for cheap kick me a PM or IM me @ prohaberdasher. I'm a distributor for them. Any performance mods you do will yield you minimal gains not worthy of your investment. The only thing that could come close would be a supercharger...but seriously, after you get a fast car you just want to go faster and you can't really do that with an E46 M3...

yep, i've found a couple so far but none local. don't really wanna ship and i guess i'm not motivated enough to fly out and drive back. i might have to settle on another combination. i definitely want to go either cinnamon or imola interior. getting black or grey interior just seems so bland:dunno:

ya titanium silver, alpine white, or jet black with imola interior would be hot. i'm just not 100% sure about that much red in the car.

thanks for the links..i have seen both of those ads already.. the black one is too high mileage and i dont want blue (unless its a custom ordered estoril)

i have a daily routine of checking the classifieds on bimmerforums, e46fanatics, dtmpower.net, bimmer.org, autotrader, craigslist, ebay motors, and cars.com.
