Ok so I have a ~700 watt Yamaha HTIB that I got for cheap last year. I want to upgrade the speaker cable and can't decide between 16g and 12g cables. Is there going to be a noticable difference between the two? I'd like to spend under $30 for 50', what is my best option?

You can get 50' of 12g from Partsexpress.com for around that much.

The guage of wire only matters if you are using long runs of wire. (vs. 16g)

If you plan to use two 25' lengths, then I would go ahead with the 12 guage for sure.

It's mainly a resistance issue. The longer the wire, the more resistance, and the harder you have to push your amp for the same volume.
