Possible! I'll believe it when I see it, but if it becomes a reality I am definitely getting one. I miss the form factor I had with my old 12" ibook, and with DV Monitor, I can tether my notebook to my videocamera and use it as a monitor/direct feed :wackit:

No. The 13.3" Macbook is in this slot. Never will happen.

With the introduction of the 13.3" Macbook, they did away with the 12" screens alltogether. The only reason they went with the 13.3'" was to take it to widescreen format.

As far as graphics go, they could just make a better graphics card an option on the Macbook. I think it's highly unlikey that they would make anything smaller than the Macbook, especially with the way they have been selling.

If they did make something smaller, I don't believe they would release it anytime in 2007. It would conincide to closely with the release of the Macbook - all that time, money, and effort put into designing a machine, only for all Apple's R&D to go to waste? Doesn't seem likely.

If they did make one, I'd be in though.

    Is that really editing?

I am interested in that dv monitor software though.

More like previewing, we don't do any serious editing in the field. Quick and dirty stuff just to get some direction and make sure we're on the right track.

DV Monitor seems promising, right now it's only SD not HD and there's no write to disc yet, but I keep up with the developers via dvxuser.com and it's great stuff. they really listen to the users.

That was my whole point. Are you really going to shoot and then log and capture on the same day? Even after that, doing more than just a few hours of serious work on my 17" mbp makes tears of sadness rain down from the heavens.

    interesting.

They will not complicate the product line, as this hurts sales.

13" screens are for writing poems.

17" screens are for getting actual work done.

The 15" is somewhere in between.

Barring heating issues or something, I believe the 12" MBP would sell like hotcakes, esp in the 1700-1800 pricepoint it's rumored to sell at.

    im pumped for that
i do pretty well with my 12 inch pb. you cant beat the portability, and when i need a bigger workspace ill just hook it up to a monitor. im never doing seriously intense work that requires a lot of space (ie editing) when im on the run.

This is the only way I'll buy an Apple portable. I loved my 12" PowerBook, but it was dog fucking slow.

MacBook is a hair too big, but would be tolerable if it didn't have a worthless graphics system. I also hate the white, and the black is more expensive for no good reason. 15" and 17" are just ridiculous if you actually want something portable.
