12:40 Appointment with Genius Bar

    The plastic on the bottom of my Macbook screen is pulling away. Do you think they'll replace it or laugh at me?? I just bought this in November

    my MBP is coming apart too, but i'm out of warranty.

    tell them you have a friend who is having a problem with his casing on the front part of the MBP coming apart but he's out of warranty, ask what they would do for me :x:

    btw if your under warranty they have to fix it if you want it fixed.

    My gf's macbook (-pro) has a similar issue on the upper bezel in the plastic, although it doesnt appear to be quite as significant.

    She took it into applecare, and they said that because it wasn't causing any issues they wouldn't replace it cause it requires a whole screen replace apparently...

    They did however give her a new keyboard, trackpad, and superdrive because of other extremely minor annoyances.

    The apple genius took it in the back for about 30 seconds and came out with it as good as new!

    sweet! i guess the little clips that fasten the plastic to the rest of the screen were a little "out of whack"

    i dunno what she did, i messed with it a whole bunch

    That person was having a similar problem but wasn't under warranty and wanted the poster to ask about it.

    If it is a reported issue that Apple is aware of like the cracking cases on the MB's then they may help you if you call the Corporate Executive Relations office. I got something fixed that way. Over a yr out of wty, but a common issue so they kindly sent a next day air box out, and 24 hours later a next day air box showed back up with new goodies. :)

    The Apple store didn't even have an interest in looking my way to hear my question with no wty on a Rev A MB.

    i had a crack on the lower part of the macbook by the usb ports by the screws. they fixed it but i also mentioned the problem like the OP about teh screen not sticking as well..but they didnt fix that part.

    Glad to hear they fixed your problem. Always have had a pretty good experience at the genius bar. Guess I go not expecting much and they exceed that.

    I went in a couple months ago because my battery couldn't hold ANY charge anymore, and without even testing it the guy just sent me off with a new one! those things are $130 retail too!
