For starters, there will be no disease, no cancer. Our primate cousins would've developed their own language and wear clothes and communicate with us in lingua franca, ala French.

Governments and political/social ideals merged into one super conglomerate known as the Illus which control all facets of our lives, much akin to 1984 but without the Big Brother attitude.

There is no marriage, there is no love, there is no sex. Only the need to exist to further the cause of humanity.

By this time, we would've extended to the stars, earth but a distant memory, a haven, the paradisus of old lore, only accessible to the rich and glorious.

    Also, Klingons.

Ruled by birds. You heard it here first. Laugh if you want, but in 1000 years I'll be saying "I told you so".

What? From your Obama-care spacecraft circling Saturn because you left your flash cloned leg on Alpha Centauri F?

Not all that different... pretty much society now but more exaggerated, in the sense of the rich/poor gap, big multinational corporation being even bigger conglomerations, people will never not be 'plugged in' to the internet, etc.

I think we'll be spread through the solar system a bit, perhaps even in the process of terraforming mars.

Humans will effectively be immortal (but not invincible) via life extension techniques... hell there's more than a few people in that area of research who believe we're only 20-30 years away from that now.

Won't have made contact with alien intelligence, but will have found evidence of simple life in at least one other place in the solar system (one of the moons of jupiter / saturn, prehistoric life on mars).

People will still claim the apocalypse is coming in (small # of years away here), and it never will.

Most of the presupposes we don't hit the technological singularity / create an AI that can improve itself, if that does indeed happen it'll be too alien to recognize.

Nah bro. Wilmers law states technology will double itself every 2 weeks. The theoretical cap will be exterminated, along with twin singularity bombs that wipe out entire galaxies.

In one swift move, Emperor Claudius Caligulus Constantinopulious Maximus Arelius Juniperus Medius Neronius Licinius will wipe out 90% of the Andromeda Galaxy because the Magellenic Cloud people called him gay.

The invasion of the birds marked the end of human dominance in the southern quadrants of the Milky Way. So dominating were the birds in fact that they conquered Earth's 2nd largest colony on Plutotia in a matter of minutes.

When refugees were pitched questions about the invasion, all they could say was "omelets". Yum.

In all seriousness, I am quite interested what our world and humans are like in the next millennium. What is our society going to be like? Our standard of living? Our technological and medical advances (this can fall under standard of living)?

I imagine earth would be like Coruscant. Heavily populated and over developed with no sight of dirt or plant matter in its natural environment. Who knows, maybe we'll have alien races living among us. Hopefully we reached another period of enlightenment where our way of thinking of governance and power is completely different and more harmonious where we live for each other rather than against each other (greed). Instead of relying on vehicles for transportation, we would use teleportation as a means of travel.
