I have the fluted barrel boxed up now, but i am thinking of selling, these barrel troubles I think are ammo related and not related to a problem with the barrel. I am thinking of just selling it and get something else.. the new fluted barrel was tested with Federal Gold ammo and my Federal Champion chambered 1 out of 2 rounds with my high cap TI-25 mag... I am thinking should I send it back to GM and wait another couple weeks or just move on to something else... kinda lost joy with this project.

The gun has 100rounds through the receiever.. everything else is brand new and never fired.. how much is this worth.

Built off a Stainless steel all weather model $220
    stainless receiver
    Black Hogue stock - $70
    Shooters Ridge BiPod - $70
Green Mountain 20" stainless Fluted barrel $150
stainless rings and Bushness scope mounted on factor rail $75

I have $575 invested what could I get for it? $475-$500?

As I've been saying ream the chamber to sporter dimensions. I have a boat load of experience in auto loading semi automatic rifles. It makes no sense to have a bolt gun chamber in an auto loader. Yes it will probably load good match ammo most of the time, but a auto loader needs to load average ammo as well.

Look at the AR-15's with tight match chambers. There are none why is that. Tightest you get is standard 223 remington which is still too tight. 223 wylde is the chambering of choice.

Yes a $25 reamer from midwayusa is not as good as free but as you learned you got what you paid for. Your shit doesn't work.

My GM barrel on my 10/22 steel plate gun has been reamed and I see no decrease in accuracy. It is very reliable and I used it for competition for over a year and I win with this rifle.

I am sending it back to GM and they will do this for free.. they never reamed it yet, the first barrel was lost and they sent me another one which has a similar tight tollerance.. so I I guess I will give it one more chance and ream it if still having a problem I will probably sell it.

How much you think its worth

Just curious, do you have the same feeding problems with factory mags?

Anyway, I think 475 is an OK price. I'd be prepared to have to drop it lower though.

You'll probably get the most value if you part it out

Some people don't learn. You'll send it back. They will check the chamber and see that it is to their spec. They will at most maybe polish the chamber and write you off as a noob. I work in this industry I know how it works. I doubt they even own a looser chamber reamer like a sporter.

You will get the barrel back it still will not work. How do I know because I did the same thing you did. I got a GM barrel, it would not feed, sent it back, they polished the chamber, it still did not feed. I sold it, got another GM barrel, same thing, reamed it myself, whooped people up and down the steel plate matches with my rifle.

Look at RFC forum. 10/22's do not hold their value. Best bet is to part it out and still you will not get anywhere near full value. Plus it is a pain in the butt selling stuff on the net because everyone low balls you, flakes on sending funds, blah blah blah. I know I sell gun stuff on the net for a living.

I'm done either you get it or you don't. It's a frigging $25 tool, you can do it yourself. You can sell the tool afterwards for full value on RFC, it'll sell in under a day

Lady I talked to at GM said they would increase the tollerance on the barrel :dunno: so I will see when I get it back.

Increasing within tolerance may only yield a few more thousandths, which may or may not fix your issue

First one I sent in the box got a big hole in it and arrived empty.. they send me this one as a replacement... its better but still has a tight tollerance (they test fired it with Federal Gold .22lr ammo which is 20 cents a round).. so its really their first attempt at increasing the tollerance

Yar just told you the best advice you will hear. This is a simple issue, and a simple fix. Seriously man, it's not rocket science.

Feel free to try and sell it, but I'm betting you won't get near $475 for that rifle. No way I'd pay that, anyways. If you decide to go that route, hit me up as I might be interested in the barrel/action.

yar gave you the best advice. GM's customer support is awesome but sometimes if you want something done right you just have to do it yourself. Get the $25 tool, use it, and you can sell it for almost full value and you'll have a working rifle you'll be happy with.

well they have been great and I shipped it off this morning and see how it comes back.. they told me they could "increase the tollerance" on the barrel so I am not going to instantly assume they are going to clean it and send it back like yar said.. sometimes there is being helpful, but you cant assume a company you dont work for is going to handle it a certain way

No I assume this from personal experience. Ask them if they reamed your chamber or if they polished it. Again I did the whole send GM your barrel and have them return it thing.
