so i just got my 10/22 (its off the 10 day wait saturday) and i am now thinking about optics.

i was considering getting a picatinny rail and a $30 red dot until i found a scope i like (or just getting the rail, and using irons until i find a scope i like).

what are some of the set ups that you guys have? any recomendations?

    :wavey:

p.s. its my first gun and it feels good to own one :o :hs:

Do you have a particular budget in mind? Optics can get up there in price.

You should shoot it with iron sights for awhile before you get a scope if you're a beginner, IMO.

I've got a Simmons on mine, works fine. It's no Schmidt und Bender, but the scope and rifle together only cost me 100 bucks.

    Details?

I have a cheap Braska 6.5-20 x 50mm. It works fine. The glass isnt the best on foggy days, but in bright sunshine, it works great. I can put a .5" hole at 50 yards with 10 rounds. My gf can do .75" with it :o

just buy whatever corresponds to your budget

if you buy a more expensive (higher zoom) scope you will be able to see holes at longer range, but unless your target shooting you probably don't care

A bunch of us have it. I've put more than 2500 rounds down my 10/22 since I've had it and it's always kept zero. It might look a little weird on a stock 10/22 though. It's pretty big. :big grin:
