i'm torn between just buying a VQ hammer, VQ auto bolt release & bell and carlson mag release or spending the extra 30ish bucks and getting the "Ultimate Plus Performance package. that package is a WK bolt recoil buffer, WK allen/stocket takedownscrew & t-hex wrench, vq hammer & vq exactedge extractor plus vq auto bolt release. then i'd get the b&c mag releae also

the hammer, bolt release and mag release is 52 shipped
the package plus the mag release is 81 shipped.

its the last package on the page. blued, not stainless (not that it matters)

edit: i could also go with the first package for 64 shipped (with the bolt release) and then 70 with the mag release. is the allen screw & wrench worth the extra 11 bucks?

I don't have an allen screw in mine, but the regular screw in it is starting to get messed up. It's hard to get a good tight turn on a shallow flat blade screw. I'm afraid I'll start messing up my stock soon.

I have left mine all stock except for the VQ hammer and WK buffer. I have torn the rifle apart a zillion times and the screw looks like it did on day one. You don't have to get the thing very tight at all :dunno:

The auto bolt release would be nice, but I would bet my 10/22 has between 12 and 15k rounds through it and the extractor has never been an issue.

I put 2k rounds through my 10/22 when it was all stock and never had any issues except for magazine related ones. I got the package that spankaveli was talking about and still don't have any problems. So either way, no big deal. At the very least, I have replacement parts if I lose any of the upgraded parts. The hammer was a lot nicer though, glad I did upgrade that.

I have the stainless allen screw and am glad I got it. It comes with a nice T-handle wrench also.

It's relatively easy. If you got the extractor, just be careful when you replace it :o The spring and plunger flew way the fuck out when I took the extractor out and I had to order a new one. Lucky I found it a couple hours that same night so now I have an extra if it ever happens again.

Go to a hardware store and get a ball-end allen wrench. I HATED taking a 10/22 down until I got one, you don't have to take it out of the v-block bolts to take them out.

Some kind of soft recoil buffer (all about the same) VQ trigger/sear will cut the trigger pull in half and make it break like glass. Chamfer the bolt, increases reliability (rimfirecentral.com search "chamfer"), extended mag release. Oh, and a can.

Do they make surpressed barrels for the 10/22? I think something like that would be cool.

If it will save a few bucks, don't bother with the auto bolt release ... you can make your own with a dremel and 2 minutes of your time. My modified one works great.

When you want to hold the bolt back, all you do is pull it back then press the bolt release thing by the trigger. When you want to release it, you pull the bolt back and press the release.

With the auto, to release the bolt, all you do is pull the bolt back and let go.

really? I think my ruger is like that from the factory. At least if i'm understanding you correctly. Its a semi auto and when i pull the bolt back, theres nothing holding it there when i let go. Dont think i have any kind of release button by the trigger either, just the safety.
