Is this a good deal or crap

  1. This is a good deal for the money. Go for it.

  2. This stuff is total garbage. Go buy a Hogue OM and a decent barrel.

I don't know if these parts are junk or not. Would I be better off just buying a Hogue overmolded stock and picking out a barrel later on? Or would this one be pretty decent @ 75 yds?

    Thoughts?

Definitely not a bad deal at all considering the barrel isnt junk. I think it may be made by Ruger, but I'm not sure.

I like how it describes it as "a $199 value!" and it's priced at $219. just go to www.rimfirecentral.com and buy parts that will be better quality at a cheaper price.

  5. The magazine is junk. I'd rather buy an Overmold stock and a Shilen barrel for just a few dollars more.

  6. As far as I know, the only bull barrels Ruger makes are the hammer forged ones on the target models, and that barrel doesn't look like it's been hammer forged.

That's the same stock and barrel I have on my 10/22...

I don't know why the description says 'carbon fiber' when it's obviously just a standard synthetic stock. It doesn't have the nice rubber feel like the Hogue, but I liked the palm swells better on this one so I went with it.

The barrel is stamped 'butler creek', but I'm sure someone made it for them, just not sure who. The barrel is good quality, my rifle groups very nicely and I have no complaints about it.

The magazine is pretty low-end, plastic feedlips that probably wouldn't last more than a few dozen uses. I personally don't care for the extended mags on a rifle like this so I have 4 or 5 standard Ruger 10 rounders that I use. I've never actually loaded a round into the BC 25rounder.

I did get the set on sale at Bass Pro for something like $169 though.... no complaints about that!

    Same magazine that I have.
It sucks, fucking things doesnt fit well and sure as fuck doesnt feed well. Its really nice to have 25 rounds but it blows cock when you have to jiggle the magazine and pull the bolt several times before it feeds a new round.

I know, considering buying one or two but at $60 a pop they are pricey.

The composite ones are a bit cheaper and work just as good. But you're right, they are expensive :hs:

I can buy 3 or 4 Ruger 10 rounders for that price. And with an extended release changing is a breeze....

  15. I voted for the "buy other stuff" option. I want to make clear that I don't think that stuff (other than the mag) is garbage. I just think that for a slight bit more money you can get nicer stuff.

At $200+, I would have bought a different stock and barrel as well. The reason I went with the Butler Creek set was the $169 (at the time) price tag. I'd vote 'buy other stuff' as well at the current price.
