    Buffer or trigger parts?

  3. I'd definitely recommend something like the Volquartsen target hammer package. It's like $35 and it'll make the trigger feel a million times better. If you have one of the new 10/22s with the plastic trigger housings it should have a redesigned hammer that doesn't use bushings, you'll need to order 2 hammer bushings as well. Your best bet for getting the hammer bushings is just to order them from Ruger, they're only like $2 each.

I'm going to show you something. Something that you will thank me for at first, but then hate me for later.

You will never come to OT again for 10/22 advice when I give you this.

You will hate me in the end, because something that started as a plinker, will have $1,500 invested.

And I will have to give you this gift in a shitty format because I have yet to buy a sub.

Anything and everything you have ever and will ever ask about 10/22 has already been discussed there.

Don't make any new threads as the topic you are asking about will always be a repost.

  5. I think once you hit 100 posts you can post a link.

Also, be careful, rimfirecentral is the barfcom of the 10/22 world. There's a lot of ridiculous shit on there mixed in with good information.

+1 on the VQ target stuff. Waaaaaay better.

When did Ruger start using plastic trigger housings? That's lame.

  7. Sometime in the last year or so. Laurel bought her 10/22 about 2 years ago and it's still all metal. A friend of mine bought a 10/22 about 8 months ago, and I'm pretty sure his trigger assembly is all metal. Another friend bought a 10/22 about a month ago, and it has a bunch of plastic parts in the trigger assembly. The new designed hammers don't use bushings, they're designed as part of the hammer. At least the hammer is still metal. :hs:

Lol. Only a matter of time, right?
It will be plastic with a sliver of metal in it.

The stainless model is "stainless" now too.

    Just grey paint

  10. The "stainless" is referring to the barrel. That's really the only difference between the stainless and blued models (along with the color of the barrel band and trigger housing) but those were aluminum anyways, and now they're plastic. The receivers are all aluminum, and they used to clear coat them, but now the stainless ones are painted.

I know. The barrel is just steel painted grey now. Thats at least on the version Big 5 carries.

  12. Really?!?! Fuck that. Why the fuck can't Ruger just make a really good product rather than try to squeeze every possible cent of profit out of it?

I've got probably 600-700$ in mine (including the cost of the rifle itself) and it makes dime sized groups at 70 yards.

    can't beat that.

Glad I got my 10/22 a year or so ago, metal trigger housing/parts, stainless barrel. Optioned for the synthetic stock, I guess I like the black "tactical" look lol.

Doesn't matter, you're going to replace it soon anyway.

I took mine apart the moment I got home. Original barrel and stock are in the box, never fired. Had the bull barrel and aftermarket stock on it that night.

The point is its ridiculous that they charge $50 more for paint and a synthetic stock now.

My 10/22 has a stock barrel and I have no plans on replacing it.
