Been trying it out over here along w/ 1 cup skim milk, some ice cubes, and 1 scoop Pro Complex Chocolate.

The coffee is Medium Roast Colombian.

Anyone else do this to add some kick to their morning shake?

I haven't done that but sounds like a halfway decent idea.

tastes pretty good to me... throw some ice cubes in your cup after blending and pretend you are drinking a mocha latte from starbucks. :coolugh:

doesn't it need hot water to melt/diffuse/blend?

Done this many times, it's delicious

It doesn't need hot water if you use instant coffee...regular ground coffee needs hot water to blend

Depending on your tastes, you may want to add a little bit of sweetener to this (I still haven't gotten to like the taste of coffee without sugar, and instant coffee has a weird flavour on it's own)

Although if you really want decent coffee flavour, substitute leftover cold coffee for water

i didn't get a "regular" container of instant coffee either. opted for a bit more expensive "100% colombian" of the medium roast as mentioned above. tastes pretty yummy to me as is and doesn't appear to need any sweetener.

    individual results may vary.

BTW - i initially tried this with some NON-instant coffee that i had and it was the suck. DEFINITELY use instant coffee for this experiment.

    damn...

I brew a full pot of fresh ground beans every morning, and never finish it.

I've been putting it in pitchers for iced coffee lately, so I have a source waiting at home for me...

    ah well...

I've never done the straight insta-coffee powder, but I have put some insta-coffee into a cup and stirred, and THEN added it to my ON chocolate whey. It tastes pretty good and works well as a pre-workout drink. You get your protein and a little boost from the coffee as well. 1 cup worth of coffee and 1 scoop whey usually does the job.

One day I hope to buy an expresso machine and start adding that into the whey shake.

the label on the coffee that i use says "pour 6oz hot (slightly less than boiling) water over coffee, stir and enjoy"

the sign on the freeway says "limit 65 mph"

i guess i have a problem following directions in both cases.

as much caffeine as in a cup of coffee?

the coffee calls for "1 heaping teaspoon" for a cup and that is exactly what i use for my shake.

If it works then it works.

If someones insta-coffee is not disolving in cold water just use hot water, add a couple ice cubes, let it sit for a few minutes, and then add it to your shake.

if your coffee needs hot water, throw some in there with 30ml of boiling water, throw a few ice cubes to cool it

are you using a blender or no?

i stated up above that i use a blender...

the NON-instant coffee that i have (fresh ground at store) does NOT work in this shake even using a blender.

the instant coffee however works wonderfully in this formula when using a blender.

    hope that helps.

uuuhh.. I hope no one is using real coffee grounds in there shakes...

coffee grounds are ground up coffee beans... They don't dissolve. ever.

instant coffee is some coffee flavored chemical crystal formula that dissolves in water.

    Two COMPLETELY different beasts...
