i just got a dual 2 ohm voice coil kicker sub. The probem is that my amp is an mtx 500d. It is only rated at 2 and 4 ohm. I am wondering however if i can run it at 1 ohm or will i blow it up?

I wouldn't do it, but you could call MTX just to be sure.

I bet it could handle it. I was running a MTX Thunder 4202 @ 2 ohm mono(suppose to be stable only @ 4 ohm mono). There was no way that it was putting out twice the power as the 4 ohms. But it was a hell of a lot better than running the sub 4 ohm stereo.

O ya i was running it this way for over 2 years, and they haven't quit yet.

I honestly dont think the MTX will do 1 OHM. If it does run, the amp will get REAL hot REAL quick.
