MMA 1 mile with a 40lbs weight vest > 3 miles normal

    Jesus Christ. I can knock out 3 miles pretty easy.

    I found my weight vest last night so I threw it on and hit a mile.

    My legs feel...like...well they feel like I ran a mile with an extra 40lbs. I'm going to do this 2 days a week with my normal 3 miles. And maybe one day a week of doing 6.

    Yay for making weight.

    Yep. Good diet, lots of running. I'm a consistant 165, down from 174 that I started the water cut at last time.

    I feel 11ty billion times better. I just cut a mid 19 min 3 mile the other night.

    Monday I start doing 5x3 stand up rounds then a full BJJ class to get me full prepared for the pro length rounds.

    I'm feeling good about this fight.

    wasted $40 on a 40 lbs vest from Title, wore it 4 times, knees felt worse than a whore at a glory hole...

    Now it's used as a weight to hold the umbrella on my deck down.

    Weighted Vests are more for Sprints than distance due to the wear and tear on your knees but to each his own.

    Eh my 125lb whore of an ex wife ran 26 miles with a 40lb pound pack. Sack up nancy boy.





























































    I could not run 5 feet with 40lbs:)

    the guy who taught me how to lift weights when I was in highschool used to wear a 60 pound vest all day 4 days a week. He didn't run or work out with it, but just wear it all day. Said it worked wonders.

    as long as the weight is added above the waiste he will be alright, and besides that even with the extra 40lbs he is still below the weight needed to do damage to his knees. I mean if Ricardo Arona and Sobral that are 210 + can run around like its all good he will be fine at 155 + 40. The main problem with running with weights is people put on ankle weights or theigh weights.

    The ankle weights will fuck you up hard and the theigh weigths as well because of where they are being placed. The vest is ok as long as you dont go crazy with it.

    ankle weights are a lot worse, but just because the weight is above his waist doesn't mean there's any less shock/wear and tear to his joints. Maybe with just a mile it's ok, but over time that shit will get to you especially as you get older.

    Hey you may be right, to be honest with you I have never done an extended run with the weighted vests. I just use it for when I am doing sprint drills and as far as that goes I have never had a problem but you dont sprint long distances so , yea

    Not true, Arona and Sobral are more acclimated to their weight. Having the weight on for long distances can put excessive wear on your joints if you havent built up to it. The vest is great for sprints because it activates more of your type 2 fibers. Also, if the best is not well made and secure to the body then the additional bouncing the weight does will also have negative effects.
