    Werd up macolytes.

    I have a 14" 1.42 GHz (512 MB built-in) iBook. . .

Max ram for it is 1.5 GB -- I wanted to get some opinions on whether or not 1.5 is overkill and if 1 gig would be sufficient.

I use this machine for iTunes (I use airtunes a lot), firefox (lots of tabs), iChat, and other various crap.

Do you think i'd see any type of performance gain with 1.5 GB vs. 1 GB?

i have 1.5 gb in my powerbook g4 1.67 ram is pretty cheap, i dont see why not? you reallly wont utilize that extra 512 though, right now i have 900 megs used and 600 free. running adium, itunes, safari with 3 tabs, and mail. i also have like 15 widgets and a ton of shit on my desktop running. i'd splurge if i were you.

    hmmm...
braddlac, your post is basically saying that i wouldn't feel the extra 512 from buying a gig stick, but you still recommend buying it - why?

because there are points at which you'll want it. I always recommend getting a computer to 2 gb atleast, or as close as you can.

No amount of ram is ever going to be overkill. I have 2gb in my Macbook and don't think it's enough...
