I was looking into picking up a 12" Pbook and I saw that the 1.33 GHz Pbooks are on sale. That plus my student discount puts it at a really good steal. For the 1.5 Ghz Pbook, I'd bee looking at another $200, but it does come with a 512 stick of ram instead of the 256, although the ram is not an issue.

Is the 1.5 that much faster than the 1.33? Should I suck it up and just spring for the 1.5 or is the performace not very significant?

its not THAT big of a deal, plus the ram you can always get another 256 for like 50 bucks

so youd be paying 150.00 for the extra 0.17 in the processor

i personally would do it, the more the better

but if you are running low on cash, there is no reason to force yourself to get the 1.5

the 1.33 GHz pbooks are the old model. the 1.5 GHz is the new model.

i'd definitely go for the 1.5 GHz pbook.

You could get the new 1.5 GHz with more ram and all the new features for only $200 more? Def get the 1.5.

This has really peaked my curiosity since order day is 2 days away.

What new features are you guys referring to? The 2-finger scrolling and the SMS? Nothing else hardware wise is different (besides the processor speed). The RAM speed, L2 cache, and graphics are all the same.

Seems that if I could live without the Superdrive, the extra .17 Mhz, and 20GB of HDD room, I could upgrade a shitload and come out ahead. Since my cut off is (hopefully) $1700 I could get the new 12" with the Superdrive and only have $200 left over for upgrading and accessories. But if I go with the marked down 12" without the Superdrive I could upgrade to 1.2GB of RAM, get a 250GB external, a case, and VGA cable for under $1660.

Argh, now I'm really at a crossroad. Suggestions?

I got a 15 inch 1.33 Pbook for $1500 vs $2000 for the 1.5 so the decision was easy for me.. But, a $200 difference, I probably would've gotten the 1.5...
