my test results for listening/speaking on my OPI test for russian. only a couple others received 1+/1+.... most received 1/1 or 1/1+. no one scored a 2 or higher in either category.

gonna get me a 2/2 next time and get paid $. gotta wait 6 months though.

really good thing! 1+ is just a smidgen below 2. you get paid if you score a 2. 1 is passing. the difference between 1 and 1+ is big...

no one in any laguage here has received a 2 or higher unless they were a native speaker... lots of controversy going on about this. the special operations language course(solt) is 6 months for languages that are a year at DLI. we dont do the dlpt any more, just this phone interview, and since the switch, the first round of classes all received blanket 1-1's the teachers and students all bitched as thats pretty fucked up, not a single person received a 1+ in any category... the second round of people to finish the course (for all languages taught here) received some 1+'s but still not a single 2... a 2 isnt that hard to get... i promise i should have received a 2!

what the thought is, is that DLI has the same goal of 1/1 agfter twice the time in class.(1year vs. 6 months) so when our school is spitting out people in half the time who are at the same level, it makes them look bad... no need for dli if solt can do it in half the time....i.e. why fund them at DLI for double the time when the same results can be acheived in half the time? so popular consensus by the teachers, students, cadre...everyone here... is that theyre lowballing us. :squint:

Good job on the Russian. I took a semester in college, and I got it, but lord was it rough.

  9. Are you part of the Russian mafia at Bragg? I might know you.

только немного. And I may have the casing on that wrong. :hs:

  13. Oh no. My roommate at Bragg had a friend in his unit that was Russian (I don't remember from where, but he was born there) and we hung out a lot, which was whatever. But we went out to the Big Apple once and met him with some of his other friends and, coincidence of coincidences, his other friends were like 7 other Russian guys, which included the only two in my entire brigade. He said that almost literally, every Russian on post knows each other.

I'm not gonna give the names, but the guy I was closest friends with drives a big blue F-150 with "Russian" on his back window...in Russian, of course. Lives off of Cliffdale.

I actually have no idea about the 4th floor of bank hall.

    thanks,
teach yourself is pretty limited. need a native speaker to help you relly get the sounds down, and stresses in the right places in words, as well as grammer and word order... self study is great if you have a working knowledge, but to start off that way is :hs:

If the alphabet wasn't so fucked up, I'm sure it would be 100x easier.
