b4 the governor kicks in / it shuts off...

edit: the reason i ask is that i got a speeding ticket that says 100+ (i was only going 80-85). i'm pretty sure that the truck i was driving turns off right b4 100 mph

Should be 99 mph, although I've gone 137 via GPS in my 06 :]

The truck shuts your injectors down at a certain "INDICATED SPEED".
You may be going 140, but the truck is only indicating 80. It doesn't actually know how fast you are going.
Also, you are responsible that your speedometer is accurate, so don't try that BS.
Furthermore, why the fuck were you going that fast? You're not hot-shit in your truck. You're just another dumbass in a truck.

As a driver of a full-size pickup myself, I have to ask: do you have a suicide wish? I mean come on, in a truck like that going that fast is just a rollover waiting to happen.

 of course nobody on OT speeds right??

dont listen to these assholes, ive done 130 mph in my silverado before, just as long as you dont make it a habit

anyway, the factory sets your limiter at whatever speed that your stock tires are rated for. usually on the f150, its either 92 or 98.

116mph is as fast as I've gotten my 08 Sierra Duramax up to....That was enough for me. Done right after the Max Energy install.

There's a difference between speeding, and speeding excessively.
    Speeding is 70.
Speeding excessively is asking whether or not the speed limiter could be a good enough excuse to get out of a 100+ ticket.:mamoru:
On the other hand, both are illegal(except on some roads)

@Ops, I'm chill as long as you're not being a tard and putting others at risk.:nono: That's when my "You're a fucking dumbass" side comes out.

Are we all misinterpreting this from what the OP said?

OP stated that he was going 80-85mph and the cop wrote the ticket @ 100+.

OP did not state that he was doing 100+mph

Am I reading this wrong or is everybody else just jumping on something too quick?
    ---------

I read it as the OP wants to know if the truck has a governor at a certain speed to prove to the court that the speed he was travelling at (80-85) was not even possible for that vehicle at the level the officer wrote the ticket for (100+).

Oh, and if the OP was only going 80-85, that's not too bad of speeding considering there are roads w/ a limit set at 75mph.

    You're forgetting something:
The speedometer is not necessarily 100% accurate. It may be that he had a gearing change, or tires, and it was off to begin with.
If that's the case, then even if he was doing an indicated 80-85, he may have been going much faster.

    That's 15 or 20mph over.
    It's just asking for trouble.

If he doesn't deserve it, he shouldn't have too.
If he got an exhibition of speed ticket, that's like 900 dollars.

Once you get past 95 or so in most trucks (and most cars too) the speedo gets further off the faster you actually go. My Toyota tops out at 112, but GPS had me at 116. Its dumb to speed that fast unless its like 2 am on an empty highway though. If you get caught, youre FUCKED.

This thread has been screwed up by assholes. Seriously, he asked if his truck can even do over 100 but every decides to give him shit for doing over 100. HE WASN'T!!!! Do you people even fucking read? No your truck is governed at 100mph or so. If the ticket is for 100+ then you can use that in court if it gets brought there anyways. Send the ticket in as not guilty and it should be rejected.
